Educational Requirements for Guest Services Assistants (GSAs)
- High school diploma or equivalent

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Self motivated
- Experience with Avimark Practice management software (preferred)
- Good restraint skills, or the ability to learn
- A sense of urgency

- Ability to multitask
- Good communication skills - verbal AND written with clients AND other departments
- Good observation skills
- Knowledge of body language of dogs and cats, or the ability to learn (and use) those skills
- A desire to learn what they need to know to excel at their position
- An ability to follow instructions/directions
- An understanding of basic veterinary terminology, procedures and protocol
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- The ability to stoop, bend, life and carry up to 50 pounds

Job Responsibilities:
- Admit and weigh our furry guests upon arrival
- QUALITY, CONSCIENTIOUS CARE FOR PETS DURING THEIR STAY
- Feed, provide water for and medicate pets per directions
- Observe and monitor pets while under our care
- Advise technicians or veterinarians when medical services are requested during boarding and follow protocol for those procedures (withholding food, et.)
- Walk, exercise and play with our furry guests
- Maintain all pet records, mark every activity or service performed
- Notify veterinarian or technicians if signs of illness or injury are observed
- Clean facilities in boarding and grooming areas
- Keep track of pet’s belongings per boarding protocol
- Fill out boarding report card
- Kennel laundry, bedding, towels, etc.
- Send evening communications to pet parents nightly
- Invoice boarding charges
- Discharge guests and provide pet parents with details of pet’s stay
- Assist other veterinarians if technicians are not available
- Go the extra mile to keep pets happy and comfortable during their stay!
If pets are being provided with Spa services:
- Bathe pets
- Comb outs
- Basic trims (sanitary cuts, etc.
- Nail trims
- Ear cleaning follow AHS protocol
- Dry pet
- Walk pets during Spa experience
- Make sure our furry guests are super-spiffy when ready to go home!
Schedule:
- 10-hour shift
- 8-hour shift
- Weekend availability
