Veterinarian
Dr. Amber Talbot is a Virginian by birth, and was raised in Lorton, VA, not far from Washington, DC. She attended Virginia Tech, where she earned her Bachelors of Science in Animal and Poultry Sciences with a Pre-Vet emphasis. Amber was a Teaching Assistant for 3 years while she pursued her Bachelors of Science and she discovered that she really enjoyed teaching others. Upon entering veterinary school, she did so, eager to bring a positive experience for pet owners, as well as the veterinary staff. Amber earned her DVM, or Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia. She completed her 3-week externship during her last year of vet school at Animal Hospital of Statesville and fell in love with the practice's culture, values and staff. Dr. Talbot is very interested in the exotic animals, dentistry and radiology aspects of veterinary medicine. One of her professional goals is to gain respect and mutual trust with every client and patient she cares for.
Outside of her veterinary career, Dr. Talbot has many and varied interests! She loves cooking, especially creating charcuterie boards, shopping, playing volleyball (which will come in handy at our rather competitive volleyball games at our summer picnic) and finding new movies and shows to watch. She loves deep-sea fishing, and, like so many others on our Team, she loves the beach. She enjoys spending time with her family, which consists of her boyfriend, Connor, and their cat, Iyra and newly-adopted puppy, Oak. Her pets are her children, providing comfort, support and unconditional love. They are considered family and make their new home in North Carolina FEEL like home.
Dr. Talbot says she is never too busy for the staff to approach, and she wants to help out in any way she can. She's very accepting of advice and instruction from her fellow doctors and the staff, and says we should never feel like we're overstepping our bounds! That's true teamwork!
